A rare snow leopard was sighted in the remote Lot Koh Valley on Thursday, sparking concern and curiosity among locals. The elusive predator appeared near Munoor village, where three residents, including two men returning from the mosque and a woman from her lawn, observed it at close range.

Village council chairman Shah Abdur Rahim reported that the snow leopard later entered a corral, killed a goat, and left part of the carcass behind before moving toward the highlands.

Farooq Nabi, divisional forest officer of Chitral’s wildlife division, visited the area with his team to monitor the animal’s movements. He noted that sightings of the species are extremely rare, as snow leopards have nearly vanished from their traditional habitat in the Hindukush range. Earlier this year, the wildcat was recorded only via camera traps in the Gahiret-Golen conservancy.
