Officials have confirmed that the video analytics software of Isr@eli origin, previously used in Islamabad’s Safe City project, has not been in operation since October 2022.
The software, BriefCam, was used temporarily from June 2021 to October 2022 under Canon Japan’s services before its license expired and it was discontinued.
Authorities emphasized that the cameras now operate without this software, addressing public con_cerns about foreign surveillance technology.
The clarification underscores the importance of transparency, proper audits, and clear communication regarding the selection and retirement of technology in public safety projects.
